Here at Children's Village at Fisher's Landing we understand that in the first years of life, infants and toddlers are beginning to create a picture of who they are, what they can do, and what they think and feel. During this special and significant stage, learning occurs at a rate unmatched by any other phase of life! Establishing trusting relationships with the infants and toddlers in our care is of utmost importance to us.
Our primary goal is to provide a warm atmosphere where your little one will feel safe, secure and cared for. Each day we provide enjoyable and engaging opportunities for learning and growth while maintaining a consistent routine for each child to aid in smoothing the transition from home to school.
With these goals in mind, we have created a nurturing program where we hope your young child will thrive. At this young
age, children learn about themselves, their feelings and the people around them during each and every interaction and activity. While we plan fun, developmentally appropriate activities and learning opportunities for our toddlers, we also allow the children to learn and discover at their own pace, encouraging individual exploration as well as group interaction.
In addition to our theme-based teacher planned activities, we use the Beautiful Beginnings curriculum in our Infant and Toddler department to ensure we are fully addressing the particular developmental needs of these age groups. Our primary goal for the infant/toddler department is to give the children a sound developmental foundation so they feel confident in their abilities and are fully ready for more large group learning once they move on to preschool.
Our Seedlings room is a special place for young infants.
We are able to accept babies as young as 4 weeks old to our program,
but because we understand the vital importance of holding and bonding
with young infants we enroll only two babies under 5 months of age
at a time. Depending on individual development, infants may move
on to the Little Acorns class sometime between 12-16 months of age.
The Acorns class is designed for children 1 year - 2 ½ years.
Most children who move up from our Seedlings class do so
around 12 mos., but again, we carefully consider each child's
temperament, development and level of attachment to their
caregivers before determining the ideal time for transitioning
to a new class.
